Company Profile
For almost four decades, Travel Dynamics International has been one of the nation's most distinguished operators of small-ship educational enrichment cruises.
Founded in 1969 by two Greek brothers who immigrated to the U.S. from the Greek island of Rhodes, Travel Dynamics International has excelled at operating thoughtful themed cruises focusing on the art, archaeology, mythology and society of the ancient and medieval Mediterranean. In 2004, we were among the first of the nation's tour operators to create, and complete, travel in Libya following the removal of the travel embargo. Our program The Ancient Lost Cities of Libya, Tunisia, and Algeria has been one of our most popular ever since.
Simply put, we strive to create the most fascinating and enjoyable cruise experiences in the world. We believe that by learning about the historical, cultural, and contemporary aspects of our destinations, in addition to enjoying and relaxing in them, our guests return home uplifted, having grown as individuals.
To this end we arrange our itineraries around historical and cultural themes, and enjoin one or several noted scholars or area experts to deliver a series of onboard lectures concerning aspects of the primary theme. Our guest lecturers, who are on board throughout the cruise, include professors of archaeology, mythology, literature, classics, religion, geology, astrophysics, the entire gamut of the arts and sciences as well as journalists, authors, diplomats, and masters of many other fields. All are eminent in their fields, and some are names recognized throughout the country. At each port of call, we provide guided tours by our highly experienced staff and expert local guides.
Travel Dynamics International has also been at the forefront of seaborne expeditions introducing the wonders of natural history to the general public. Travel Dynamics International is one of the founding members of the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators (IAATO), established in 1991 to promote safe, environmentally sound approaches to Antarctic tourism. Our voyages to the Antarctic Peninsula aboard the Corinthian II have often been hailed by returning guests as the best trip of their lives.
Travel Dynamics International cruises are sponsored by more than 200 of the nation's most prestigious cultural, educational, and non-profit institutions, including the alumni associations of Harvard, Yale, and the University of Chicago, the Smithsonian Institution, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Archaeological Institute of America, the Explorers Club, and the National Audubon Society.
Travel Dynamics International distinguishes itself by its absolute commitment to the small-ship educational cruise, which fosters a much more intimate and friendly ambience than larger cruise liners; and also by an unbroken 38-year tradition of creating tour programs specifically for inquisitive minds, inspiring both the imagination and the intellect while discovering the world!
In the winter of 2007, Travel Dynamics International launched a subsidiary company, Classic Golf Cruises. “With Classic Golf Cruises, we are able to serve the growing demand of seasoned golfers who seek a truly distinctive experience,” said Vasos Papagapitos, co-president of TDI. “Increasingly, first class courses are being built where art and archaeology were historically the principal attractions, and we look forward to calling at remarkable places around the globe where the age-old Scottish game has taken root,” he added.
